Jeff Friday is an entrepreneur, film producer, and founder of the American Black Film Festival (ABFF). He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1964 and grew up in the East Flatbush neighborhood. After graduating from Dickinson College with a degree in economics, he worked in finance for several years before pursuing a career in the film industry.
In 1997, Friday founded the ABFF, which is an annual festival that showcases films by and about black people. The festival attracts thousands of attendees each year and has been credited with helping to launch the careers of several prominent filmmakers and actors.
In addition to his work with the ABFF, Friday has produced several films and television shows. His production company, Friday Films, has produced movies such as "Phat Girlz" and "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete." He has also served as an executive producer on TV shows such as "All About the Washingtons" and "Black Card Revoked."
Friday has been recognized for his contributions to the film industry with several awards, including the Entertainment Industry Award from the National Association of Black Journalists and the Diversity Award from the Directors Guild of America. He currently resides in New York City with his family.
